When patients are with us at the Inpatient Care Center, they receive round-the-clock, all-inclusive care to ensure they are as comfortable as possible.
General Inpatient Care
Patients can be admitted to the Center from the hospital or from their home. These patients may already be in hospice care with us, or they are newly admitted to the program. Patients come to us because their symptoms cannot be managed comfortably or safely at home for one reason or another. Often, these patients are experiencing out of control pain.
Our team can most effectively address their symptoms when they are able to keep a closer eye on the patient’s needs. At the Inpatient Care Center, a dedicated team is available at all times to provide the highest level of care required.
A stay at the Inpatient Care Center is intended to be short-term. If it’s an option, the goal is for the patient to return home with their family once symptoms are under control. Many of our patients express the wish to die in their own home. Our teams will do everything within their power to fulfil that wish if possible.
Sometimes, if the patient isn’t ready to return home or they are actively dying, a patient may pass away at the Inpatient Care Center.
Respite Care
Patients may also stay at the Inpatient Care Center to receive short-term Respite Care to provide relief for the patient’s caregiver at home. Patients can come to the Center for up to 5 consecutive days, once a month.
Respite care can be covered under the Medicare Hospice Benefit and gives caregivers a chance to take some time for themselves to rest and recharge, or address personal matters.
