Hospice Medical Director
Brendan Flynn, DO, FAAHPM, HMDC is the Medical Director of Blue Ridge Hospice. He is involved in every patient’s care, providing medical oversight.
Hospice Physicians
One of our Blue Ridge Hospice physicians will be your primary hospice physician while you are under our care. Our physician will not take the place of your current primary care physician. Our physicians make home visits and regularly review and revise your plan of care, when and as appropriate, to ensure maximum comfort and symptom management for you They will check on you regularly to keep track of how you are doing and what they can do to make you more comfortable. This may include regular symptom checkups, as well as adjusting and ordering your prescriptions. Our physicians are dedicated to providing you with the best possible care.
Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses
Our nurses make regular home visits and provide hands-on care. We always have nurses on call on nights, weekends, and holidays, in case you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance.
Certified Nursing Assistants
Our team of nursing assistants are available as needed to assist you with hands-on personal care, such as bathing and changing bed linens.
Social Workers
Our team of licensed social workers is available to guide and assist you and your your family with your non-medical needs, connect you and your loved ones to resources, and help with planning.
Grief Support Counselors
Our trained and licensed grief support counselors provide support to you and your caregivers and family during this difficult time. They are available to you or anyone by your side, to provide short-term counseling. Blue Ridge Hospice social workers continue to support caregivers and family long after a loved one has died.
Chaplains
Our team of non-denominational chaplains are available to provide spiritual care. They may provide life reflections, prayers, sacraments or religious rites, and offer a comforting presence, regardless of what faith you practice.
Music Therapists
Music therapy is a vital component of the care and support Blue Ridge Hospice offers. Our board-certified music therapists can work with you to provide comfort, experience spiritual peace, joy and hope, and promote relaxation.
Patient Support Volunteers
Volunteers assist in a number of roles. They may provide respite care to relieve a caregiver, companion care for socialization, pet therapy, reiki therapy, running errands, and much more.
Patients and caregivers often tell me they think of me as a member of their family. And sometimes it does really feel that way. Sometimes, I will run into a former patient’s family member, and we’ll remember the time we spent together.
