A Comfortable Space to Discuss Life and Death
Winchester, VA, January 7, 2025 – Blue Ridge Hospice in partnership with Bowman Library, a location of Handley Regional Library System, is excited to announce the launch of Death Café, a unique, participant-led gathering where individuals can engage in open honest conversations about death – all while enjoying coffee, tea, and cake.
Death Café is not a grief support group or a counseling session; but rather a casual and welcoming space for people to reflect on death-related topics, to help us life live more fully. Whether you are curious, thoughtful, or seeking meaningful conversation, come as you are and engage in this judgment-free, agenda-free discussion.
“At Blue Ridge Hospice, we believe that talking openly about death can help individuals navigate discussions about life and death with care and compassion,” said Courtney McCalley, M.S.Ed, Grief Counselor and Certified Thanatologist for Blue Ridge Hospice Center for Hope & Healing. It’s a place where curiosity and reflection can thrive, allowing participants to share, learn, and grow together. We’re honored to be part of this initiative, helping our community navigate these discussions with care and compassion.
