Ellen has been working with Blue Ridge Hospice since 2010. As the Chief Human Resources Officer, Ellen is responsible for all areas of Human Resources including recruitment and retention, employee recognition, compensation, benefit administration and performance management. Ellen also ensures compliance with all state & federal regulations including The Joint Commission.

Our employees are Blue Ridge Hospice’s greatest asset. They are what makes us the best hospice in the area. We have created a culture where staff feel appreciated and we recognize them for being a vital member of our team as we work to fulfill the mission of Blue Ridge Hospice.

Previously, Ellen worked 10 years as the Director, Human Resources at American Background (a background screening company in Winchester, VA).

Ellen attended Old Dominion University to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, with a concentration in Human Resources. Ellen also received a minor in Psychology.

Ellen is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). She is a member of the National SHRM organization and the Virginia Association of Healthcare Human Resources Administration. Ellen is also an active member of the Winchester Area SHRM chapter.
