Music Therapy
“Music was one of the things Shaun enjoyed most in his last days…”

“Every time I hear a rain stick, I think of the ocean drum… it was Shaun’s favorite, bringing his heart rate down when medicine didn’t even work. I can’t say enough good things about the Music Therapy program at Blue Ridge Hospice.”

We all know how music makes us FEEL… imagine what music can do for those facing serious illness.

With 3 board-certified music therapists on staff, 2 of which are Hospice and Palliative Care certified, Blue Ridge Hospice strives to provide our patients and families with the best that music therapy has to offer.

Why Music Therapy?

Music promotes a state of relaxation and improves sleep; it can alleviate pain, reduce anxiety, and elevate moods
Music often fosters feelings of closeness, intimacy, and social interactions with family and others; it stimulates memories, encourages conversations and connections with others.

When emotions of anger, fear, sadness, and hopelessness might be present, music provides comfort and may move patients to experience spiritual peace, joy, remembrance, and hope. Music assists with bereavement.  Whether through memories, or relaxation, music helps heal
