Assistant Chief Nursing Officer – (Full Time)

  • Evaluates, and documents the effectiveness of care in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team (IDT), to include patient, family, physician and facility staff.
  • Provides for continuity of service across settings through effective information management, including both verbal and written communication.
  • Delivers care in a cost-effective manner that demonstrates an understanding of hospice reimbursement methodologies.  Articulates essential components of the hospice benefit as administered under Medicare and other payers.
  • Conducts all performance evaluations for Clinical Team Leaders and Clinical Staff with input from the Clinical Team.
  • Participates in infection control activities, education and monitoring as needed.
  • Provides clinical/administrative support and leadership to the clinical staff in the absence of Clinical Team Leaders.
  • Ensures all documentation and nursing services meet regulatory, federal hospice guidelines, and organization policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a resource/mentor for staff regarding clinical issues, documentation, and problem solving.
  • Communicates with clinical staff regularly/effectively regarding organizational changes and updates, practice expectations and other matters of importance.
  • Provides guidance and support to afterhours/on-call services, as necessary.
  • Provides all aspects of direct patient care during times of limited resources/high acuity including:  completing admission assessments, completing patient assessments in the home or facility setting, triaging patient calls, covering for assigned staff during absences, etc.
  • Qualifications:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with current Virginia licensing per state board of nursing
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care nursing preferred
  • Two years hospice experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Strong leadership and management experience in effective team building
  • Reliable transportation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and electronic medical records experience preferred

 

RN On Call –(PRN)

  • Position involves travel throughout our territory to patient homes providing direct patient care and education to hospice patients and their caregivers
  • Current RN state license required with a minimum of 2 years acute care experience
  • Previous hospice experienced preferred
  • Must have excellent assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer
  • Position provides telephone triage symptom management and focused in home visits
  • Requires ability to drive throughout Blue Ridge Hospice service area
  • Willingness to work either evening or night shift and rotating weekends

 

Staff Accountant (Full Time)

  • Assists Director of Finance with preparing spreadsheets, reconciliations, and organizing information for monthly financial statements.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports, including, but not limited to, inpatient care center analysis, thrift shop analysis per store, and various accounts receivable reports.
  • Prepares weekly flash and month end reports as needed.
  • Prepares monthly sales tax reports.
  • Prepares and/or assists in quarterly 941 reports Virginia Employment Commission Report and yearly W-2, W-3, 1099 and 1096’s.
  • Assists Director of Finance with the preparation of spreadsheets and support for annual financial statement and 403b audits.
  • Competence in payroll, general ledger software, Excel spreadsheets and overall general knowledge of system databases and master files.
  • Responsible for daily entering and reconciling of deposits into the accounting software.
  • Acts as accounts payable back-up when needed.
  • Acts as back up for billing (insurance verifications) when needed.
  • Prepares monthly bank reconcilements.
  • Minimum of 2 years of College Education or Associate Degree – Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years prior experience in accounting related field required. Experience with hospice highly desirable.

Team Leader – Clinical Services (Full Time)

  • Attend Team Leader and Administrative quarterly meetings and bi-weekly manager meetings.
  • Assures documentation of care provided and the response of the patient/family; assures submission of documentation as described in organization policy.
  • Provides for continuity of service across settings through effective information management, including both verbal and written communication.
  • Delivers care in a cost-effective manner that demonstrates an understanding of hospice reimbursement methodologies.  Articulates essential components of the hospice benefit as administered under Medicare and other payers.
  • Manages patient related telephone calls.
  • Participates in infection control activities, education and monitoring as needed.
  • Provides clinical/administrative support and leadership to the clinical staff in the absence of other Team Leaders and Assistant Chief Nursing Officer if assigned.
  • Monitors Quality Department reports are followed up on with employees.
  • Reviews/monitors/approves log sheets to include management of staff overtime.  Reviews patient care expenditures to ensure covered versus non-covered expenses.  Monitors productivity standards.
  • Serves as a resource/mentor for staff regarding clinical issues, documentation, and problem solving.  Refer staff to help desk when needed.
  • Communicates with clinical staff regularly/effectively regarding organizational changes and updates, practice expectations and other matters of importance.
  • Carries a patient caseload 50% of the BRH established caseload per discipline.  This caseload will increase to 75% once the individual is trained in this role.  Will spend 75% of time in the field and 25% administration.
  • Provides guidance and support to after-hours/on-call services, as necessary.  This is handled on a rotating basis with other Team Leaders/Managers.
  • Coordinates all CNA services.  Monitors schedules for aide services to meet patient/family needs while considering required supervisory visits. Notifies aides, nurses and patients of changes to schedule, if necessary.
  • Provides all aspects of direct patient care during times of limited resources/high acuity including:  completing admission assessments, completing patient assessments in the home or facility setting, triaging patient calls, covering for assigned staff during absences, etc.
  • Approves payroll bi-weekly.  Approves paid time off and monitors team paid time off.
  • Facilitates IDT team meetings.  Does not act as Scribe.  Assist keeping meeting moving, timely and appropriate.
  • Participates in the orientation of new members of the IDT and students.
  • Monitors staff compliance with all regulatory requirements and Blue Ridge Hospice policies and procedures and ensures appropriate staff education.  Identifies any education needs or opportunities as needed.
  • Utilizes Consolo software program and becomes a Super User for the program.  Acts as a resource to the team for clinical questions.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills that promote effective teamwork and communication.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse or Social Worker with current Virginia license.
  • Two years hospice experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management experience in effective team building.

 

Thrift Associate – Strasburg– Full Time (32 hours)

  • Must demonstrate merchandising skills/experience
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must have prior experience with cash handling and opening & closing stores
  • Position will include sorting & pricing
  • Position requires evening hours and weekends
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

 

Thrift Associate – Stephens City – Full Time (32 hours)

RN Case Manager, Home Care – Full Time (40 hours)

  • Position involves travel, within a specified local territory, to patient homes

providing direct patient care & education to Hospice patients & their caregivers

  • Current RN state license required
  • Position requires minimum of 2 years current acute care experience
  • Previous hospice experienced preferred
  • Must have excellent assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer

 

Chaplain – (Full Time)

  • Position involves travel, mileage reimbursed
  • Assesses/evaluates patient and family needs for spiritual support/counseling
  • Develops spiritual care plans
  • Acts as liaison between Blue Ridge Hospice and community clergy
  • May participate in funeral planning for patients
  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team in the plan of care
  • Master of Divinity required
  • At least 1 unit of CPE
  • Ordained pastor in good standing with a denomination
  • Position requires minimum of 2 years current experience in pastoral care
  • Previous hospice and hospital chaplaincy experience preferred
  • Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer

 

RN, Inpatient Care Center – Full Time (36 hrs & PRN)

  • 12 hours shifts
  • Rotating weekends, holidays, day and nights
  • RN needed for our 8-bed hospice inpatient unit based in Winchester, VA
  • Current RN state license required
  • Position requires minimum of 2 years current acute care experience
  • Must have excellent assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer
  • Previous hospice experience preferred

 

Nurse Educator – (Full Time)

  • Oversees the development, planning, presentation and evaluation of educational activities within areas of expertise which foster’s the development of confidence in the learner
  • Provides and supports professional practice activities to achieve organizational goals
  • Oversees orientation of new employees including development and maintenance of weekly orientation objectives and monitoring each employee’s progress
  • Supports agency wide professional practice education programs.
  • Serves to enhance staff retention by role modeling professional practice
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school; licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Master’s degree in nursing required
  • Previous experience in clinical education preferred
  • Two or more years of relevant nursing experience in terminal care, health team service coordination, documentation and case management. Must possess previous experience in hospice or home health
  • Must have a strong knowledge of hospice regulations and reimbursement issues surrounding hospice care
  • Ability to manage all aspects of terminal care, health team service coordination, and documentation
  • Knowledgeable of organizational policies, procedures, systems and objectives
  • Have strong communication skills; written and verbal
  • Be able to identify quality assurance triggers and take the lead on establishing education plans
